Headed out of Hillarys about 5pm this afternoon to see if we could find the pinkies. Conditions were as good as you can hope for so out to the back of the 3 Mile on hard ground to burley up and wait for the schools to move through, hopefully.
On the first drop Mark hooked a good fish which fought all of the way to the boat, and was initially called for a big skippy. No, a large metro KG (now that is a desired species). Over the next half an hour a few more came in and the trip was certainly worthwhile.
The pinkies were absent from our spot, except for an undersized 400mm model (hopes were high when this one was landed but unfortunately no more). Undersized dhu, a 1m bronzie and a couple of 6kg+ Port Jacksons made up the rest of our catch.
A tasty bag in a few hours so close to the coastline. I still marvel at what you can catch within 15 minutes of the marina, and whiting that measure around half a metre.
