Shore Catch has partnered with Western Australia Fisheries. We hold relevant Fisheries information including: fish bags and tags; fish measurement stickers; recreational fishing guides; and other publications. Importantly, Shore Catch is a fish frame drop-off location for donating anglers to participate in the Send Us Your Skeletons Program.
Shore Catch fully supports the Send Us Your Skeletons Program as it provides vital biological information on key fish species. WA Fisheries describes the Program as follows:
“You can play a key part in WA fisheries science by donating your fish skeletons to help with our long-term monitoring program of fish stocks and ensure the recovery of our key fish species. The skeleton contains key biological information, such as length, age and sex, that we can use to make science-based decisions to sustainably manage our fisheries.”
The key species from the West Coast Bioregion are: West Australian Dhufish; Baldchin Groper; Pink snapper; Breaksea Cod; King George Whiting; Tailor; and Herring.
Please participate. Take a fish collection bag with you and keep the frames of the key species in your freezer, or bring them in fresh. Next time you visit us for bait, you can exchange the skeletons to give you room in the freezer. Fish for the Future.
